Next Meeting of the
Colorado Springs Coin Club
FEBRUARY 23rd, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.

The Colorado Springs Coin Club meets on the forth Tuesday of each month
at 7:00 PM at the Pikes Peak National Bank, corner of 24th Street and
Colorado Avenue. (Please use the west entrance on Colorado Avenue.)
Guests are welcome at all regular meetings.

January Meeting
Thirty-seven regular members and two guests, Phil E. and John R, were
present at our evening meeting.
The secretary's report as written in the November newsletter was
presented and accepted.
Treasurer, Barbara T.'s report was presented and accepted.

January Business
Phil and John applied and were accepted into club membership. Welcome !!
George M. discussed last month's Joint Holiday Party Meeting with the
membership. A secretary's bill was presented and motioned to be paid.
A show greeters schedule sign-up sheet was passed around.

Collectors Corner
Showing numismatic materials were;
Bruce B. - a packaged log cabin cent with a blank
James N. - three Morgan dollars and 1963 red seal note and a $100 note
without the security thread
David C. - three Peace Dollars and Buffalo nickel book
James G. - a picture of a KKK token
Dan U. - a 1972 Colorado bi-cent medal and telling of a Public Auction
with numismatics in Denver
Phil E.- told of Colorado's Fence Post magazine
John L.. - a loupe with a built-in small light
Sam C. - telling of Canada Coin Club and Trade Pieces
John G. - a 1986 business card with depiction of Ken H.
Buddha I. - told of the Security show last week
Frank K. - told of finding silver pieces in $50 of halfs and showing a
99% blank Delaware quarter

January Door Prize Winners
Door prize winners were; Mike W., Paul G., Moe B., Ken H., David C.,
Steve I., John H., John L., and Bruce B. Thank you to Ken H. for the
donations of coin holders for our door prizes.

January Membership Prize
Member, Mark E. won the 1992 silver proof set.

January Volunteer Helpers Drawing
Volunteer helper, Moe B. won the numismatic gift.

January Auction
A 16 lot auction was held with 6 lots selling.

February 23 Program
Nate Bower of Colorado College's Chemistry department, will be giving
a talk and slide program on "Non-Destructive Chemical Attribution of
Coins with Surface Corrosion" . There will also be a group of individuals
from the college with Nate. Because of a time factor, we will dispense
of Collectors Corner and possibly our auction this month.

Weather Warnings
Once again as we get into questionable weather conditions for our regular
meeting dates, please use good judgment if your not notified of a cancellation.
We would try to notify all regular members ahead of time but if not, my number
is in the telephone book!

Show Exhibits
Please start thinking about a numismatic subject for your July Coin Show
Exhibit. We will have very good numismatic awards for all that participate
in Adult and Young Numismatist categories. Exhibit sign-up forms will be
available at this meeting.

Coin Show Give-away Box
For the next few months we will be asking members to donate foreign coins, tokens
and other inexpensive collectable pieces to our Colorado Springs July Coin Show
"Young Numismatist coin give-away box".

Newsletters On Website
NLs have been added to our "coinsinthesprings.com" website and will continue to be
added there monthly. We discussed the change at the society meeting deciding to
continue individual E mailings.
